How about adding agility to the employee experience?

Recrutement Responsable

The employee experience is what drives your employees. It’s what engages and retains the people who have chosen to work for your company. It’s also an important recruitment lever, which is why we’re talking to you about it today. When you become aware of the key pillars of the experience you offer, you realize that if your employee journey is set in stone, you lose an edge over your competitors.

What is agility?

Agility is the ability to adapt to any situation. It’s about taking a step back to test and adapt, and not believing that what you’re doing is an optimal version of reality. In short, being agile means working while having the audacity to make mistakes and start again.

In concrete terms, you can be more agile in your practices by creating an employee path that includes several variations. Whether it’s to present different ways of acknowledging a life event, marking a birthday, communicating certain news, your typical employee journey can vary according to seasons, shifts, periods of high tension.

We can also choose to contextualize certain moments according to our personas or archetypes. For example, you design equivalent employee paths that correspond to different eventualities. For parents of young children, you speak a certain language, while for your generation X, you offer a different approach with different options. This is a great way of catering to a larger number of people without offending others. For example, you offer a care package when an employee buys a new home, but you also offer a meal box when a child is sick or school is closed to give parents a break. You offer an accelerated training plan and a moderate-speed plan for those who wish to add modules to their training plan, or simply assimilate at their own pace. Adapting means offering choices.

What are the foundations of an engaging employee experience?

Here are some important pillars of the employee experience to consider:

  • Respect
  • Fairness
  • Trust
  • Credibility
  • Team connection
  • Employee pride
  • Recognition

If you respond with clear, concrete actions to several or all of these pillars, your employees will be more engaged and feel supported in their workplace. If you’re not sure what would make your employees happy, ask them. That’s always the best way to meet expectations.

Your employee experience strategy will have an impact on everything you do at the human level, from your recruitment process to your onboarding, your development plan and your internal communications. This strategy has an impact on what your employees experience on a day-to-day basis and how they relate to work. So it’s vital to do it right. Personalizing and adapting our employee experience is no easy task, but the simple fact of trying to appeal to a greater number of individuals is a reflection of our desire to make the workplace more enjoyable.
